Nero Marquina

Description

It is not difficult to understand the reasons for Nero Marquina’s success. It is a deep black marble, with fine grain, stained by the remains of white fossils and crossed by more obvious white veins, which occasionally turn green or red. The brightness and depth of black and the contrasts with white create a captivating and confident look. It is located near the city of Marquina in northern Spain, about fifty kilometers from Bilbao.

Nero Marquina marble is one of the most famous and appreciated natural stones in Spain.  It is actually used as a reference black marble in projects around the world. It has good technical characteristics, which is why it is used for any type of application. Especially we can find it in floors (especially interiors), stairs, cladding and roofs. You can find Nero Marquina marble applications in interior decoration, such as fireplaces, designer furniture, bathrooms (sinks – shower trays) and kitchen countertops.  However, it is a refined and luxurious marble with an impressive appearance. Although it looks good on its own, it combines perfectly with other colored or white marbles.

Origin

Negro Marquina takes its name from the Basque Country quarries.  Brings to light all its noble and primeval beauty on floors, walls, bathrooms, kitchen countertops. It is even as breathtaking artistic murals and ornamental pieces.

Its irregular white veins, concentrated to a greater or lesser extent, visually recall a painter’s brushstrokes on an intense black canvas. The final effect, a majestic velvety stone mantle that dissolves into a decorative setting, offering endless aesthetic possibilities. Negro Marquina leaves no-one unmoved.
