What Is the Most Durable Countertop Type?

We are a family-run business and have small overhead compared to companies with managers on top of managers.

The kitchen countertop is one of the most used surfaces in the home and needs to be able to stand up to wear and tear from heat, cutting, heavy items, and impacts. Most homeowners and their families spend a great deal of time in the kitchen and therefore need a countertop that can handle taking a beating day in and day out.

A beautiful and natural stone countertop is essential to making your kitchen an enjoyable space and ensuring its longevity. So what is the most durable countertop material? Read on to find out.

Which Countertop Material Is the Most Durable?

Granite

Granite is the most durable countertop material currently available. It is resistant to heat and scratches and can handle years and years of use. It is also one of the most beautiful materials you can choose for your countertop.

Granite is available in many different colors and textures and lasts for decades. It is long lasting, easy to clean, and looks amazing in any home. It is the most durable countertop material and is a favorite among homeowners, contractors, and interior designers alike. You can’t go wrong with granite.

What Other Materials Are Available?

While granite is an excellent choice for a countertop, these other materials are beautiful, durable, and low maintenance as well. Let’s talk about quartz and quartzite.

Quartz

Quartz is the second-most durable countertop material and is not a bad choice by any means. Quartz countertops are a top contender in terms of durability and beauty. Quartz countertops are made by combining crushed mineral quartz with a polymer resin. It is a nonporous material that does not need to be sealed.

While it does require a bit more maintenance than granite, quartz is still one of the most durable countertops on the market today.

Quartzite

Quartzite is great for homeowners and interior designers who like the look of marble but don’t want the maintenance. It is quickly catching on in popularity because it is harder and more resistant to stains than granite.

Some of the most vivid colors and dynamic veining are found in quartzite. With virtually no maintenance or risk of etching or scratches, homeowners can feel confident about choosing quartzite for their next countertop remodeling project.

Which Countertop Material Should I Choose?

Beauty and durability are at the top of the list when choosing a countertop material. Choosing the most durable material available won’t mean much if you don’t like the look of your new countertop. Granite, quartz, and quartzite are all excellent countertop choices.

All three of these countertops last a long time, look stunning, and require very little to no maintenance. While granite is certainly the most durable, quartz and quartzite make for a very close (and beautiful) second and third.

The countertop material and design you choose will last for years, so you must choose something you love that adds to the comfortability and ambiance of your kitchen. You owe it to yourself to design and build the kitchen of your dreams!

So thankful for Jennifer and Marble Unlimited. They quickly saved my project when i failed to secure granite for a project we had at our home. From the first interaction, Jennifer was top notch and completely helped me quickly get the granite i needed. They really did it in less than a week. That service time from contact, to selection, to install is unheard of in today's market...yet Marble Unlimited did just that in 7 days. So very thankful for them. Prices were great as well. THANK YOU!!!

Everyone at Marble Unlimited exceeded my expectations and I am so very happy with how our new quartz countertops for our kitchen and laundry room came out. Everything from picking out the stone from all the many slabs they had to choose from, to receiving quotes, to the attention to detail in the measuring, and to the final installation(installers were awesome) was above and beyond. I highly recommend Marble Unlimited.

I am reviewing Marble Unlimited, which is in Hillsborough, NC. I chose a beautiful quartzite material from their stock, for our kitchen countertops, and I am completely delighted with the results. Our kitchen looks very sophisticated, and we get complements all the time. Thank you, Marble Unlimited for a job well done.

There's nothing like looking at huge slices of granite and marble in their stockyard behind the showroom. No samples will ever give you such a good idea of what you are buying. Daniel and the men working with the countertops seem to have some aesthetic feeling and love for the product. They were willing to work with us to give us this not quite finished countertop and mountain-themed backsplash.
