Description
Black Forest Granite is a dark grey to black gneiss of the Precambrian period with many white veins and decoration with dark patches.
The veining and color vary. Therefore, a small sample of Black Thunder granite may not be representative of the whole slab. Smal samples must be approved for large projects. That will help to ensure that the blocks are all extracted from the same quarry face for matching purposes.
During the polishing process there is a possibility for using a clear epoxy resin filler to fill any micro fissures or tiny pitting. However this does not affect the integrity of the stone. It merely provides an even smoother finish. Black Forest Granite is suitable for both interior and exterior use. Furthermore is frost resistant and with a constant polish.
Products: Suitable for construction projects both commercial and domestic, vanities, countertops, tiles, backsplashes, paving, fireplaces and memorials.
Surface Finish: Black Forest Granite looks best with a gloss polished surface. It is also available as honed, leather/satin, river-washed/antique, thermal/flamed, brushed, and sandblast finish. We never use color enhancers.
Sealing: Test with a small sample. It is possible that a sealant can be used on Black Forest Granite. Excessive attempts at sealing could actually create a residue film build-up.
Black Forest GraniteBlock Sizes: These are quarries yielding select grades of granite with blocks suitable for gangsaw size down to economical tile-sized blocks.
Rough blocks are usually exported by Bulk Block. However, at an extra cost, there is availability for intermodal containerization.
Quarry Location: Black Thunder granite is quarried near Chittor, Andhra Pradesh, India. There are three different quarries of Black Forest Granite. The veining and color vary considerably. Therefore a small sample is not representative of the whole block or slabs. Lesser qualities have quartz bands.
Synonyms: Black Fantasy, Black Markino, Black Paradiso, Nero Foresta, Scorpio Black, Silver Paradiso
Gneiss: A high-grade metamorphic rock. Gneiss is medium to coarse-grained. It may contain abundant quartz and feldspar, which some photos regard as essential components. The banding is usually due to the presence of differing proportions of minerals in the various bands. Dark and light bands may alternate because of the separation of mafic (dark) and felsic (light) minerals. The mineralogy of a particular gneiss is a result of the interaction of original rock composition, pressure, and temperature of metamorphism.
