Description
White Apollo Quartzite
Natural White Apollo quartzite has the look of marble but acts like granite in durability.
Pure quartzite is usually white to gray in color. Quartzites often appear in different shades of pink and red due to varying amounts of hematite. Other colors, such as yellow, green, blue and orange, are due to other minerals.
The term quartzite is also sometimes used for very hard, which are composed of completely cemented quartz grains with additional quartz. Such a sedimentary rock has come to be described as ortho-quartzite. To distinguish it from metamorphic quartzite, is sometimes called metaquartzite to emphasize its metamorphic origins.
The typical distinction between a true ortho-quartzite and an ordinary quartz tile is that an ortho-quartzite is so strongly cemented that it will fracture over the grains, not around them.
This is a recognizable distinction in the field. In turn, the distinction between an ortho-quartzite and a metaquartzite is the beginning of the recrystallization of existing grains. The partition line can be placed at the point where the stressed quartz grains begin to be replaced with new. In this way producing a mortar texture that can be identified in thin sections. Subsequent recrystallization produces a foamy texture, characterized by polygonal grains that meet at triple junctions, and then a porphyroblastic texture, characterized by coarse, irregular grains, including some larger grains.
Often white quartz, like snow, also comes in fashionable gray, black, green and pink varieties. It is the attractive choice for consumers after visual stimulation or designers who want to distinguish their project.
The hardness of quartz offers an incredible aesthetic, with a reliable quality.
As a decorative stone, its growing popularity among both designers and architects makes sense (among other things) for countertops and bathroom countertops. More stain resistant, quartzite is a top choice for people looking for style and practicality, durability and resistant surfaces.
